An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’ s Court has remanded a 56- year-old man, Abraham Benjamin, for allegedly attempting to rape a 110- year-old woman. The police prosecutor, Caleb Leranmo, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 30, 2018 on Igbehin Street, Ado-Ekiti
The prosecutor said the accused attempted to rape the woman at her home on the said date before she was rescued by a “Good Samaritan.” “The offence contravened Section 359 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State, Nigeria 2012,” he added.
The court, presided over by Mrs. Taiwo Ajibade, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. She ruled that the case file should be duplicated and a copy sent to the DPP for advice. The magistrate adjourned the case till May 22 for mention.
