Wearing Rings On The Toes To Church

So I honoured an invitation to a church (name witheld) & as a stranger, my eyes kept wandering during the program (I'm sensitive). I saw a few things which I've never seen in a church before. A woman was wearing a ring on her big toe. Who has seen such before? what does it mean?
